Topeka man, 43, arrested after attempted burglary Sunday

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A suspect in an attempted burglary has been arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Jail.

The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office says the Emergency Communications Center received a call regarding an attempted burglary in the 2900 block of Southwest Tutbury Town Road around 1:22 a.m. Sunday.

According to the investigation, a suspect knocked on the front door of the residence. When the resident answered the door, the suspect allegedly attempted to force entry into the home.

Bryan C. Anton, 43, of Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Jail.

The resident prevented the suspect from entering and forced him back outside.

Officials report that the suspect continued to kick the door and attempt to gain entry until deputies and a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper arrived on scene and found him outside the residence.

As a result, Bryan C. Anton, 43, of Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Jail in connection with:

  • Burglary
  • Theft
  • Criminal damage to property
  • Interference with law enforcement

Anton remains in the Shawnee County Jail at the time of this report under a $75,000 bond.

The incident remains under investigation.
