K-State QB’s dad and brother issue apology after video shows fight following Wildcats’ Week 0 loss in Dublin

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson’s dad and brother released a statement Sunday after a video went viral on social media showing a fight between the two family members following the Wildcats’ opening season loss in Ireland.

According to CBS Sports and as first reported by 247Sports, Mark Johnson was seen getting into a fight outside of the stadium with his son, Anthony. No arrests were made.

“We sincerely apologize for our actions following yesterday’s football game in Ireland. Senseless bickering escalated into an unnecessary fight,” Mark and Anthony Johnson said in a statement. “We have resolved our differences and take full responsibility for our actions. We have apologized to our immediate and extended family, and now extend our apologies to Kansas State University, its alumni, and fans.”

The two family members says they “regret” the incident and are committed to making sure it does not happen again.

The tussle happened after the Wildcats’ 24-21 loss to Iowa State at in the opening game of the college football season.
