TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Two purr-fectly adorable kittens want to make sure all furry friends stay safe this July 4th holiday.

Prosperity and Positivity joined Laura Currah from Helping Hands Humane Society in a visit to Eye on NE Kansas.

Laura said the kittens - a boy and a girl - are 9-weeks-old. They’re among many kittens currently awaiting adoption at HHHS.

Plenty of dogs are filling the shelter, too. Because of that, HHHS continues its Dog Days of Summer name-your-price adoption special. Dogs aged five months and older can become part of a family for as little as $0.

Helping Hands is also running a 4th of July microchip special. The shelter typically sees an influx of animals during this holiday as they get scared by the loud booms of fireworks. A microchip can help them be reunited with their families.

Microchips are $15 through July 3rd. HHHS encourages scheduling an appointment by calling 785-233-7325 and asking for admissions or emailing admissions@hhhstopeka.org. Cats adopted from HHHS without a microchip can get one for just $10.

HHHE is located at 5720 SW 21st St. in Topeka.
