Silver Alert canceled after man from Wichita was found safe in Mississippi

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - UPDATE: The Wichita Police Department shared that the state wide Silver Alert has been canceled for Roosevelt Sims who was found safe with family in Mississippi.

A statewide silver alert has been issued to help find Roosevelt Sims, a 69-year-old man with dementia.

The Wichita Police Department requested help from the KBI.

Sims was first reported missing to WPD on July 25, but the police department says he was last seen by Wesley Medical Center staff on Hillside on August 2. Sims was seen for minor discomfort and discharged the same day.

Sims’ family reports that he is known to sometimes stay at homeless shelters before returning him.

Sims is described as a black man who is six feet tall and 170 pounds. He has white hair in a pony tail and is missing three finger tips on his right hand.

Sims was last seen wearing a black hat with “chicken chasing” written on the side. He also had a dark blue shirt and blue jeans.
