Get ready to party! Fiesta Topeka plans full slate of events for 92nd year

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The countdown is on to the 92nd annual Fiesta Topeka!

The kickoff events will be here before you know, so publicity co-chair Renee Franklin visited Eye on NE Kansas to run down the schedule of events.

Renee said the 92nd annual festival will feature the cultural staples that have made the event a favorite: authentic Mexican food, amazing entertainment, and an inviting family atmosphere.

The fun kicks off June 28th with the annual Fiesta 5K run/walk. It departs the Oakland Community Center, taking participants through the Oakland neighborhood and treating them to music and fun along the way. That evening, everyone is invited to the Mini Jamaica at Evergy Plaza in downtown Topeka for fun and dancing.

July 12 brings the annual Fiesta Topeka Parade through downtown Topeka in the mid-morning hours, with the Coronation Ball that night.

Milagro Alvarado is the lone Fiesta Topeka Royalty Candidate this year. However, Renee said Milagro and her family are working hard to raise money for Holy Family School. They’re already holding pre-Fiesta food sales every other week at the Marlo Cuevas Balandran Activities Center. The next one is the week of June 9th.

The annual Fiesta Topeka Festival along with the Fiesta Art Show runs July 15 to 19 at the Our Lady of Guadalupe church grounds, 201 NE Chandler St.

Also part of the fun will be the Fiesta Topeka Golf Tournament, taking place July 18.
