LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW) - One man is behind bars after he allegedly pulled a knife and threatened workers at the construction site of the University of Kansas football facility.

The Lawrence Police Department says that around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, law enforcement officials were called to the area of Missouri St. and Fambrough Dr. - the location of the University of Kansas football facility construction site - with reports of a confrontation.

When first responders arrived, they learned a man, later identified as Bryan C. Anton, 42, of Lawrence, had pulled out a knife and threatened multiple individuals in the area. He initially refused to comply with the demands of police, but eventually submitted to arrest after he was threatened with less-lethal devices.

LKPD said Anton was safely captured and was booked into the Douglas Co. Jail on:

  • Failure to appear
  • Criminal damage to property
  • Aggravated assault

Police noted that fortunately, no one was injured during the incident. The University of Kansas Police Department aided with the investigation as the events took place both on and off campus. The entire case will be handled by LKPD.

As of Thursday, Anton remains behind bars.
