In the midst of winter, a local private school turned into a tropical paradise and workout studio for the morning.

Cair Paravel Latin School played host to a Zumba fundraiser for those affected by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

Almost 6,200 people died in the typhoon in November and thousands lost their homes.

Saturday, Zumba instructors, the Sal Cruz sounds and the Topeka Drumline came together for the tropical-themed fitness dance class and fundraiser.

All proceeds will go to disaster relief for a typhoon foundation.
