TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- A water main break disrupted rush hour drivers on I-70 on Tuesday evening. According to the Kansas Dept. of Transportation, the ramps onto and off of I-70 at the MacVicar Ave. interchange closed so crews can fix the line.
Shortly after 5:00 p.m., KDOT crews were in the process of blocking the off ramps on MacVicar Ave. They eventually reopened around 7:00 p.m.
The City of Topeka said a contractor trenching under the street to replace a sewer line hit the water main. MacVicar is closed completely at 1st Street while repairs continue. Traffic is being detoured through the neighborhood - and that is expected to last a week.
