KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- Dozens of Kansas City police officers say a man allegedly shot his parents in the driveway of their home.
The man retreated inside the residence when officers arrived. The responding officers heard a gunshot. A police robot was later sent into the house and discovered a body. The body matches the description of the son.
Authorities say the man shot his parents, who were found inside a vehicle. The father, who was in his 60s, died and the woman, who is also in her 60s, is in critical condition after she was shot in the stomach, authorities say. The man died inside the vehicle.
Her son, who is in his 40s, was standing on the porch with a gun when officers arrived. The man retreated into the home and refused to come out. Officers heard a gunshot.
Dozens of armed officers surrounded the house and tried unsuccessfully to reach the man.
This began unfolding just before 3 p.m. Friday in the 5100 block of Northwest Linden Street, east of Interstate 29 and and south of Northwest 72nd Street.
Police have been called to the residence numerous times for disturbances and domestic violence issues.
