TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- High school students looking forward to attending their prom this year don't have to worry about affording a gorgeous, new dress for the event.

The Silver Sparkle Shop will open its doors for the first time this Thursday and Saturday during April by appointment.

Information is available through local school councilors or email at

The store, which is an offshoot of the Silverbackks, will provide a free dress to help students with financial challenges.

In addition to the dress, Silverbackks also offers resources and accessories and encouragement.

Organizers are asking students to sign up for an appointment if possible so they can ensure they have enough volunteers on hand to help.
