Topeka Police Arrest Suspect Connected To SE Topeka Park Homicide

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- UPDATE Sunday, June 1, 2014 6:30 p.m.----

The suspected murderer from Saturday's triple shooting is behind bars after a joint search warrant execution between Topeka and Lawrence Police Officers.

The Topeka Police Department confirms that 24 year old Jourdan M. Hunt of Topeka was taken into custody after an executed seatch warrant operation near 27th and Louisiana in Lawrence.

Officers have also Identified the victim as 20 year old Topeka man Germaul L. Rayton.

Sergeant Trent McKinley with the Lawrence police department confirmed with 13 news that earlier Saturday morning around 2:30 a.m. Topeka Police and Lawrence Police units executed a high risk search warrant in the 600 block of West 27th Street in Lawrence.

McKinley says they also used a tactical team and the warrant service went without incident.

Police are no longer looking for the red SUV with tinted windows.

It is believed that both Hunt and Rayton knew each other.

A triple shooting in Southeast Topeka took one man's life and injured two others Saturday afternoon.

Around 4:10 pm. Topeka Police officers responded to Freedom Valley Park at 1400 SE Locust after reports of a shooting in the area.

Officers say three victims were taken by personal vehicle to a local hospital where a 20 year old Topeka male died of his injuries, and two other Topeka men, ages 18 and 21 were treated and released.

The suspect in question is being described as a black male in a red SUV with tinted windows.
