TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- A pair of mid morning collisions on Eastbound I-70, just west of Wanamaker slowed traffic for more than an hour.
The first crash was reported around 9:30 Thursday morning, between a car and a semi, with both ending up off the side of the road.
Kansas Highway Patrol told 13 NEWS that they believe the semi was trying to avoid a damaged car in the left lane of the highway. The semi then jackknifed and struck a car traveling in the right lane. Both the semi and car veered off the shoulder of the highway.
The two occupants of the car struck by the semi were both taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries. The semi driver was also taken to the hospital for treatment.
One collision was described as non injury, the other is reported as injury involved.
The Topeka Fire Department stayed on scene after the vehicles were towed, cleaning up diesel that spilled when the fuel tank was ruptured.
