EMPORIA Kan., (WIBW) -- The Emporia Police Department says that rescue units were called to the area of Railroad tracks and Market Street crossing in downtown Emporia around 9:40 p.m. Wednesday after getting a report of a train striking an individual. When rescue workers arrived they found 46 year-old Michael T. Glaser of Emporia under the train.

Authorities believe Glaser was riding his bike south on Market Street and fell off his bike. They said Glaser ended falling just west of Market Street onto the south tracks and was unconscious.
Authorities said the BNSF train could not stop in time and Glaser was hit and trapped underneath.

Rescue crews removed Glaser from underneath the train and transported him to Newman Regional Health, where he died from his injuries.
