KDOT Tells Motorists To Expect Delays On I-70

TOPEKA, Kansas (WIBW) -- The Kansas Department Of Transportation tells motorists to expect delays on parts of Interstate 70 starting Sunday.

Eastbound and Westbound right lanes on the interstate from Gage Blvd. to MacVicar Ave. will be closed for utility work. They will reopen once work is completed.

Westar Energy crews are stringing up three 1 1/4-inch power lines and one fiber optic line in order to complete the the new 115kV transmission line from the Goodyear Substation to the Education Station Substation in Topeka.

A 55-mile-per-hour sign will be posted around the clock until December 19th, weather permitting.

The utility work will take place daily until the 19th from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

KDOT urges drivers to be alert and use the brakes.
