City Of Wichita Employee Dies After Fall At Cheney Pump Station

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE)— A City of Wichita employee has died after a fall at an area pump station.

Emergency crews were called to the Cheney pump station near 39500 West 21 Street North after 1 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3. According to Wichita Director of Public Works and Utilities Alan King, the injured man was found by another employee who went to check on him.

The 59-year-old man was unconscious, and King said he could have been laying there for hours. The fall would have been a 20-30 feet drop.

The man was hospitalized for several days in critical condition, but has since died. His name has not yet been released.
