Bond Issue Could Mean New Elementary School For USD 437

By  |

A bond issue will allocate more than 67 million dollars to the Auburn Washburn school district if it passes.

Tonight supporters were at the Washburn Rural Middle School's Parents Night trying to get the message out.

They have several plans for the funds including a new elementary school that will eliminate current overcrowding.

Safety of existing schools is also addressed in the plans. The main office area in the middle school will be moved to allow the door access to be monitered.

The Board of Education approved the bond proposal on August 13th.

It will stagger the sales of bonds while assuming the number and value of properties in the district will continue to raise making tax increases minimal if at all.

This will be a mail ballot vote.

Ballots will be sent out in mid october and will be due november 8th at noon.
