LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) _ A group of architecture and fine arts faculty and students at the University of Kansas has formed to improve the experience of going to the doctor or staying in the hospital.
The group is called Design for Wellness. So far, nine faculty members have given their experience to the group. It's first project is to help two Lawrence-area hospitals design more efficient emergency examination rooms.
Gregory Thomas, chairman of the university's department of design, came up with the idea. He says some faculty involved in the group have decades of experience trying to improve the design of health care buildings.
So, he decided, why not put all these different efforts and abilities together in one group.
