SALINA, Kan. (AP) _ A laptop computer containing personal information about more than 1,000 patients is missing from Salina Regional Health Center.
Hospital officials are offering a $2,000 reward for the return of the laptop, which contained patient names, social security numbers and medical history. The computer, other equipment and a small amount of prescription drugs were stolen earlier this month.
Letters were sent last week to patients whose data is in the missing computer, advising them to let their financial institutions know about the threat and to be on guard for false charges.
A hospital spokeswoman said the computer was shut off when it was stolen, and the patient data is double-password protected.
