Getting Ready for School

By  |

We're not far off from Fall which means more backpacks heading out the door and more students heading into the classroom, but for families with budgets stretched thin back-to-school-buys can be a real pain on the pocketbook. Community Action Inc. sponsored the back to school fair to help families in the community. Volunteers handed out 1,600 backpacks stocked full of school supplies to qualified families. Students also received prizes and gift bags and got the chance to get up close to farm animals. Overall organizers say it was a success as thousands poured into the Expocentre to prepare for the big day, a big step for the rest of their lives.
