ATLANTA (AP) _ The vice president for academic affairs at
Emporia State University is the new president of Dalton State
College in Georgia.

John Schwenn takes over at Dalton State in March.

The college is about 90 miles northwest of Atlanta. It was
founded in 1963 and has about 4,400 students and about 130

Schwenn was appointed today by the Board of Regents of the

The head of the search committee says Schwenn is
``student-focused and a consensus builder.''

Schwenn has held his post at Emporia since 1997 and has been
associated with the college since 1989. He taught at Delta State
