Weather changes KSHSAA state championship schedule

(WIBW) - Severe weather around the state of Kansas has changed the KSHSAA state championship schedules for baseball, softball, soccer and track and field.

All consolation games for these tournaments have been cancelled. Here is a rundown of the latest updates from KSHSAA involving our area teams from Northeast Kansas:

BASEBALL

5A: The semifinal matchup between Seaman and Bishop Carroll will resume play at 10 a.m. on Saturday. That game is scoreless in the second inning. The winner will face St. Thomas Aquinas for the 5A state title 25 minutes after that semifinal ends. These games are at Wichita State's Eck Stadium.

3A: The semifinal matchup between Sabetha and Minneapolis will pick back up on Sunday at noon. That game is scoreless in the second inning. The winner will face Rock Creek for the 3A state championship 25 minutes after that semifinal ends. These will take place at Glennen Field, part of Emporia State's Trusler Sports Complex.

SOFTBALL

6A: The championship game between Washburn Rural and Lawrence Free State will resume at 10 a.m. at Rock Chalk Park on Saturday. Free State leads the Lady Blues 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning.

5A: The championship game between Shawnee Heights and Bishop Carroll will take place at 10 a.m. at Maize High School on Saturday.

3A: The semifinal matchup between Holton and Silver Lake will resume at noon on Sunday at Turnbull Field, part of the Trusler Sports Complex at Emporia State. Following that game, the winner will face Frontenac for the 3A state championship 25 minutes after the conclusion of the semifinal game.

GIRLS SOCCER

6A: Both semifinals have been pushed to Saturday. Washburn Rural will take on Olathe Northwest at 9 a.m. at Wichita South High School. Manhattan then faces Blue Valley West at 11 a.m. The championship game is scheduled for Sunday at noon at the same location.

4-1A: Both semifinals have been pushed to Saturday. Hayden will face Louisburg first at 8 a.m. before Buhler takes on Bishoip Meige at 10 a.m. The championship will then be played at 2 p.m. All of these games are at Hummer Sports Park in Topeka.

TRACK AND FIELD

KSHSAA announced the running events will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday at Wichita State's Cessna Stadium with the 3200-meter runs. The field events will resume at 8 a.m. All events will run on a running schedule.
