Washburn's comeback falls short, snaps 28-game winning streak against Lincoln

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Before Thursday night, the last time Lincoln University of Missouri beat Washburn was in 1968.

After Thursday night, it was in 2019.

The Ichabods missed their first eight shots of the game, starting off the hot and cold streaks that would define the matchup.

In the second half, Washburn tied the score at 41 then trailed by two in the final seconds. Then an Ichabod 3-pointer rimmed out as the buzzer sounded and the Blue Tigers took the night 75-73.

Javion Blake led the Ichabods with 26 points and eight rebounds, followed by David Salach with 14 points and Will McKee with 11.

The Washburn men are back in action on Saturday, hosting Lindenwood in Lee Arena at 3 p.m. The women's team plays before at 1 p.m.
