Washburn volleyball carrying chip on its shoulder

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Washburn volleyball is heading to the Division II Elite Eight for the first time since 2007.

The Ichabods are the No. 5 seed for the national tournament. They'll take on No. 4 Wingate on Nov. 29 in Pittsburgh.

Despite this tremendous run, Washburn head coach Chris Herron feels his team isn't getting quite enough respect.

"We went through the numbers 4, 6 and 9 team in the country and we're still the fifth seed," Herron said. "Okay and I'm okay with that, I kind of like it. I hope they want to play with a little bit of a chip on their shoulder like nobody respects us, nobody thinks you're good enough, that kind of thing. Because it's worked for us."
