TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Washburn men's and women's basketball teams both topped Central Oklahoma on Saturday, producing a combined eight double-digit scorers.
Saturday was also the 50th anniversary of the Washburn women's basketball program and was celebrated with an on-court ceremony.
The women's team topped UCO 74-53 to claim a three-game winning streak.
The Ichabods never trailed in the contest as it shot an efficient .492-clip from the field, converting on 30-of-61 attempts. The Bronchos were held to 16-of-44 shooting with 4-of-17 from deep.
The women's offense was paced by Taylor Blue and Hunter Bentley, each with 21 points, while Reagan Phelan and Alexis McAfee chipped in with 13 and 10, respectively. Nicole Murugarren lead the rebounding efforts, pulling down 10 of Washburn's 42 boards.
As for the men, Washburn took down UCO with a big second half, 88-69, to notch its fifth-straight win.
The men led the Bronchos 36-33 at the half after the teams had nine ties and eight lead changes in the first 20 minutes and neither team led by more than four points.
Javion Blake led the Ichabods with 20 points, followed by Tyler Geiman with 16 and David Salach with 12.
Both Washburn teams now hit the road for a two-game road slate, beginning on Thursday at Lindenwood and on Saturday at Lincoln University of Missouri.
