WAMEGO, Kan. (WIBW) - About 890 miles separate Wamego, Kansas and Akron, Ohio. But while Isiah Childs is going far from home, he doesn't think it will feel like it.
"I just fell in love with the school," Childs said of the University of Akron. "It felt like a second home to me."
The Wamego High School football star held a signing ceremony on Wednesday to celebrate his football future with the University of Akron. The Zips are a Division I program in the Mid-American Conference.
"I just fell in love with the coaches and the coaching staff there," Childs said. "And I really felt like it was going to be the best opportunity to build my platform and they had a good career field of what I wanted to go into with sports psychology."
Before playing at Wamego, Childs attended and played football for Manhattan High School.
