(WIBW) - A Topeka native and Kansas State women's hoops star has been tabbed as one of the Big 12's top players for the upcoming season.
The league named Cair Paravel alumna Peyton Williams to its Preseason All-Big 12 Team on Wednesday. Fellow Wildcat Rachel Ranke was an honorable mention recipient.
Entering her senior season, Williams comes back as the Big 12's fifth-highest returning scorer and the top returning rebounder from the 2018-19 season. She's the fourth player in program history with 1,000 or more career points, 600 or more career rebounds and 80 or more career blocks.
Last season, the forward became the first Wildcat to average a double-double in league play since Kendra Wecker in the 2004-05 season. She led K-State in scoring with 15.5 points per game, which represented an increase in her scoring average for the third straight season. Williams also averaged 9.5 rebounds per game.
This past summer, the Topekan also earned a silver medal as a member of the U.S. Pan American Games Team.
