Report: Kansas State to hire Scottie Hazelton as defensive coordinator

(WIBW) - On the day the Chicago Bears made their hiring of former Kansas State defensive coordinator Ted Monachino official, the Wildcats reportedly have their choice for his replacement.

GoPowercat.com reports Chris Klieman is planning to bring on Wyoming defensive coordinator Scottie Hazelton for the same position. The site posted a video showing Hazelton entering the Vanier Family Football Complex on Monday.

In two seasons at Wyoming, Hazelton has had success. He led the Cowboys to rank in the top 25 in the nation in total defense and top 30 in scoring defense for both years.

Like Klieman, Hazelton has a history at North Dakota State. The former Jacksonville Jaguars assistant coach worked under Klieman's Bison predecessor, Craig Bohl, from 2007-2011 as the defensive coordinator. Bohl now is the head coach at Wyoming and eventually brought Hazelton in from the NFL.

Before working in Jacksonville from 2014-2016, Hazelton was a linebackers coach at USC in 2012 and defensive coordinator at Nevada in 2013.
