More than 1,400 athletes compete in inaugural KSHSAA cheer competition

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- More than 1,400 athletes on 83 teams competed in the inaugural KSHSAA Game Day Spirit Showcase Competition at the Kansas Expocentre Saturday.

The format of the competition was chosen as a way to "exemplify what cheerleading represents," according to a brochure produced by KSHSAA.

Teams were judged in three categories: and dance, crowd leading, and fight song.
