(WIBW) - Patrick Mahomes continued to add to his extensive award collection on Wednesday night.

The reigning NFL MVP won the Best NFL Player honor at the ESPY awards. He beat out Aaron Donald and Todd Gurley of the Los Angeles Rams, as well as Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints.

Mahomes also took the stage to accept the Best Game award on behalf of the Chiefs for their thrilling 54-51 loss to the Los Angeles Rams that came on Monday Night Football.

He did experience one loss though. The NBA MVP in Giannis Antetokounmpo beat out Mahomes for Best Male Athlete.

Last season, Mahomes became the youngest NFL MVP since 1984. The Offensive Player of the Year threw for 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns with 12 interceptions. He's just the second player in NFL history to hit the 50-touchdown and 5,000-yard marks in the same season.
