Local schools take home State Cheer Medals

Shawnee Heights and Rossville all won first place at state cheer competition at their respective classification level. Washburn Rural took second place.

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - On Saturday, Shawnee Heights and Rossville both took first place in their classifications at State Cheer. Washburn Rural finished second place.

At the 5A level, the Thunderbirds scored a final score of 85.75. That was a point higher than the second place finisher.

In 2A, Rossville came out on top by about 3 points with a score of 84.00. Lyndon finished third with a 79.00 score in the finals.

At 6A, Washburn Rural came up about 2 points short of first with a finals score of 83.25.

Marysville finished at the bottom of the finals teams at 3A. Their final score was 71.75 after a 5 point deduction.
