MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) - Kansas State men's basketball announced on Thursday that it's losing one of its younger guards.

Freshman guard Goodnews Kpegeol has entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal to go play for another program. He used a redshirt for the 2018-2019 season after joining K-State on December 31, 2018 following his signing during the early signing period in November.

“We appreciate Goodnews’ contributions to our basketball program and wish him the best of luck as he pursues his playing career at another institution," Wildcat head coach Bruce Weber said in a release.

Kpegeol was a postgraduate at TaylorMade Academy in Pensacola, Florida for the first half of the 2018-2019 season. Before that, the St. Paul, Minnesota native averaged a team-best 18.2 points per game as a senior at North High School in 2017-2018.
