MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) - Instead of a New Year's resolution, Kansas State basketball made a new addition right before the start of 2019.

The program announced on Monday that guard Goodnews Kpegeol has joined the team. He practiced with the Wildcats for the first time on Monday and will redshirt for the remainder of the season.

"We are excited to add Goodnews to program," said Weber. "It was a tough decision for him and his family to leave TaylorMade at semester because Coach (Anthony) Taylor had given him an opportunity. However, he and his family felt it was in his best interests to join the program now and start the process of getting acclimated to college.

"Right now, there are no plans for him to play this season. It would be a chance to be in practice, to start learning the system and get adjusted to college in order to be ready to go next season (2019-20)."

Kpegeol was cleared by the NCAA and enrolled at Kansas State for the spring semester. He fills the final scholarship for K-State this season.

The Minnesota native spent the first half of the 2018-2019 season as a postgraduate at TaylorMade Academy after playing four prep years at North High School in St. Paul, Minnesota. Kpegeol was rated as a three-star recruit by 247Sports.
