(WIBW) - Just days after suffering a gunshot wound in a shooting that killed his best friend and former teammate, it sounds like Corey Ballentine will report to the New York Giants' rookie minicamp this weekend.

That's according to team general manager Dave Gettleman, who did a radio interview with Sirius XM NFL on Monday. NFL Network is reporting the former Washburn star suffered a gunshot wound to the glute, which 13 News confirms.
“We spoke to him on Sunday,” Gettleman said. “He’s coming along fine. He’ll be here Thursday for the minicamp this weekend."
Gettleman also praised the person Ballentine is.
“He’s a really bright kid and he’s a great kid,” Gettleman said. “What happened is tragic and unfortunate. I mean, that’s his best friend he was with.”
