Emporia State teams earn sweep, take down Northeastern St.

EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Emporia State men's and women's basketball teams swept Northeastern State on Saturday at White Auditorium.

The women held off the Riverhawks 66-60 in a game that saw nine lead changes and the Lady Hornets leading the entire fourth quarter to seal the deal.

ESU was led by Addie Lackey in scoring with 14 points, followed by Jessica Wayne and Tyra Jones with 11 points each.

With her 14 points, Lackey moved past Casey Henningsen into 15th on the Lady Hornets' all-time scoring list with 1,382 total points in her career.

Wayne's four steals also moved her past Michelle Stueve into ninth place in the Lady Hornets all-time career steals list with 184 career steals.

The men's team also notched a 6-point win over the Riverhawks, with a 70-64 final. the Hornets used a 13-0 run late in the game to take the win.

Julius Jackson led the way for Emporia State with 22 points, followed by Kooper Glick with 21.

Both ESU teams will be back in action on Thursday hosting Pittsburg State.
