Emporia State staying loose ahead of exhibition vs. No. 1 Kansas

EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW) - Craig Doty's debut as Emporia State's men's basketball head coach may come in a game that doesn't count, but it's still quite the tall task.

The Hornets will travel to Allen Fieldhouse on Thursday night for a date with No. 1 Kansas. It's the first time the two programs have met since 2016, when the Jayhawks won 104-62.

In fact. Emporia State has never beaten Kansas in exhibition play and hasn't gotten a victory against KU since 1947.

But despite a huge challenge, senior Hornet guard Sawyer Glick said his team is trying to stay loose.

"We're focusing on enjoying the moment, not thinking about it too much," Glick said. "Just going out and playing our game, working on things we need to work on and not being scared. They're obviously a good team. We're just going out and playing our game."

Thursday night's exhibition is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
