Emporia State men end season with near upset of No. 1 NW Missouri State

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WIBW) -- Emporia State ended its season in a game that came down to the wire against No. 1 Northwest Missouri State in Thursday's MIAA Championship quarterfinals.

The Bearcats came in undefeated, first in the conference and the country, and were given a scare by Craig Doty's Hornets.

In the final seconds, Northwest tipped an ESU inbounds pass, causing time to expire and a final score of 82-79.

Emporia State finishes with a 14-16 record, doubling its conference wins in Doty's first-year at the helm.

Julius Jackson notched a career-high 38 points in his final game at ESU, and was joined in double figures by Aaron McGee with ten points.
