EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW) - The 2019 season could not have started much better for Emporia State.
Garin Higgins's Hornets dominated Northeastern State 51-14 at home on Thursday night to cruise to a 1-0 start. And his new starting quarterback had a solid debut.
Seaman alumnus Dalton Cowan totaled 349 yards and threw three touchdowns. On the ground, ESU rushed for 270 yards as a team. And in the receiving game, Topeka High alumnus Corey Thomas reeled in seven catches for 99 yards and a touchdown.
The Hornets will take a road trip to Pittsburg State next.
