EDMOND, Okla. (WIBW) -- For the fifth-straight year, the Emporia State Hornet football team booked a trip into the postseason.
After a 35-28 win at Central Oklahoma, the Hornets secured a bid to the Corsicana Bowl in Corsicana, Texas, on Dec. 1. They will face the University of Arkansas at Monticello from the Great American Conference.
At halftime, the game was tied at 14. Emporia State then put together a 3-play touchdown drive to start off the second half before UCO tied it back up at 21 to end the third quarter.
Neither team found the endzone for the first ten minutes of the fourth quarter, but both combined to score 21 points in the last five minutes of the game.
The Hornets then went on to score two straight touchdowns. The first came on a Landon Nault 51-yard score, and the second after a Lawson Holbert interception led to Braxton Marstall flying 46-yards to pay dirt.
Central Oklahoma tacked on another seven with seven seconds left. Emporia State recovered the onside kick and ended the game in victory formation.
Marstall went 20 of 34 for 306 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air, plus 44 yards rushing and a score.
Tyler Harris led the Hornets in receiving yards with 135 on three catches and a touchdown. Justin Brown finished the day with 7 catches for 68 yards and Jordan Reed added six catches for 59 yards and a touchdown.
Nault led Emporia State in rushing with 99 yards on 15 carries and a touchdown.
On defense, Gary Woods II and Jace McDown each notched 12 tackles, while Kyle Rinck had a career-high 10 stops.
