(WIBW) - Dee Ford's emergence for the Chiefs this season has been noticed by the NFL.

On Thursday, the linebacker won AFC Defensive Player of the Month honors. He is the first Chief to garner this award since Justin Houston won it in 2013.

In five games during October, Ford wreaked havoc on quarterbacks. He forced the most fumbles in the league for the month with four and came behind only Los Angeles Rams star Aaron Donald in sacks with six.

Ford is already two sacks away from matching his career-high for a season in 10. The eight sacks rank second in the NFL. His four forced fumbles are a career high.
