AXTELL, Kan. (WIBW) - For the first time since 1993, Axtell can bring home a state championship.
The Eagles will take on Osborne on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Newton-Fischer Field.
"It means everything," head coach Eric Detweiler said. "It's something we've been fighting for the last few years. We've lost in the sub-state round and now we've actually made it there. Every year, we've been getting closer to making it to the state game and finally got the confidence level and we're peaking right now."
Axtell credits getting this far to the team chemistry it's built.
"I've never been on a team with a bond like this," senior quarterback Quinn Buessing said. "Everyone likes each other, everyone gets along. It's just really fun to be a part of."
