Washburn distance runner Jacob Klemz announced on social media that he will transfer to the University of Portland. Klemz was a four-time D-2 All-American in his three years with the Ichabods.

"This has been one heck of a ride and definitely not what I saw coming." Klemz said in a post to Instagram. "I would like to thank everyone who has stood by me in this process and helped get me to this point in my life."

Klemz picked up two All-American selections in cross country, one in indoor track and one in outdoor track. He owns 12 different Washburn track and cross country records.

In his social media post, Klemz said he still has a year and a half of eligibility to compete.

The All-American graduated from Hayden High School. As a senior, he finished fifth at the state cross country meet, and at state track he logged a fifth place in the 1600m and third in the 3200m.
