(WIBW) - The Associated Press named Kansas forward Dedric Lawson a preseason All-American on Tuesday.
Lawson joins Purdue's Carsen Edwards, North Carolina's Luke Maye, Duke's R.J. Barrett, Wisconsin's Ethan Happ and Nevada's Caleb Martin on the squad. A 65-member national media panel votes on the team.
Lawson is a redshirt junior who transferred from Memphis and sat out last season due to NCAA transfer rules. For the Tigers, he averaged 19.2 points and 9.9 rebounds per game during his sophomore year. He averaged 15.8 points and 9.3 rebounds as a freshman for Memphis.
Last week, the Big 12 named Lawson its preseason Newcomer of the Year.
