Topeka's Advisors Excel wanted to make sure children have proper outerwear to fight the chill.

"Hopefully, this is a great day for everyone," co-owner of Advisors Excel, Cody Foster said.

Advisors Excel provided 221 preschoolers with winter weather gear for all Sheldon Head Start students.

"The thing we've learned over the years is so many kids come to school without, something as basic, as a coat or shoes that are functional."

The kids were able to pick out items that best matched their style.

"Kids get so excited that they get to pick out their own shoes and their own coat," Principal, Sheldon Head Start School, Jennifer Horton said. "It's one less thing the parents have to worry about when their trying to make ends meet."

This is the fifth year Advisors Excel has provided for all Sheldon Head Start students to give them a "shopping experience" to remember.

"A lot of these kids don't have a lot of positive things happen to them all the time," Foster explained.

The collaboration creates warm fingers, toes, and hearts.

"Who wins in the long run, we all do, the parent wins, the child wins then the whole community wins," Horton emphasized.

Advisors Excel is also providing winter coats for students at Ross, Pauline Central and Pauline South Elementary Schools, as well as Highland Park High s Advisors Excel School.

"For us we're just always trying to figure out ways to impact our community, and this seemed like a pretty easy way to do it," Foster said.

All the students were glad to head home with a winter collection.
