TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The 2019 Kansas Kids State Wrestling Folkstyle Championship Tournament was held on Saturday at the Kansas Expocentre.

Wrestlers of all ages, both girls and boys, competed in the event, with the age groups ranging from eight and under to high school.

"I put the whole season into getting ready for this," said Saben Williams of Manhattan. "This is a lot of work all year--for like nine years straight. It's a dedication."

The wrestlers first have to make weight, then prepare for the actual tournament, all with the hope of standing on a podium once the day is done.

"It's tough but nothing I can't beat if I try hard enough," said Alyssa Bartlett, of the Spring Hill Wrestling Club.
