(WIBW) - Hail and strong winds did damage Thursday afternoon in northeast Nemaha County.

A line of storms also had a large chunk of Manhattan in the dark Thursday night. Westar Energy showed more than 2,200 customers out at one point. The number was around a dozen by 10 p.m.

Emergency manager Russel Lierz said 70-mile-per-hour winds came through around 4 p.m. Thursday.

He said eight homes had siding damage and broken windows. The winds also brought down several trees.

Lierz also reported severe damage to corn and soybean fields.
