Wilsey man arrested in Manhattan on attempted homicide warrant

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) — A 25-year-old Wilsey man accused of an attempted homicide in Sedgwick Co. was captured Monday morning in Manhattan.

According to the Riley Co. Police Dept., Jeffrey Vermont Porter, Jr., was arrested shortly before 9 a.m. in the 200 block of Tuttle Creek Blvd.

Investigators say he was wanted on a $250,000 Sedgwick Co. warrant for attempted homicide as well as a no bond warrant for a probation violation out of Harvey Co. RCPD did not release details of the incident in Sedgwick Co. that led to the warrant.

The Pottawatomie Co. Sheriff's Office and the Wichita Police Dept. coordinated with RCPD on the arrest, investigators added.

The arrest prompted Riley Co. Police to ask people to avoid the area near where the arrest occurred.
