Wichita parents charged with murder, child abuse in death of 3-year-old boy

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) -- The parents of a 3-year-old boy found dead in a south Wichita mobile home made their first appearance in court in connection with the boy's death on Tuesday.

Brandi Marchant, 22, and Patrick Javonovich, 28, are both charged with five counts including first-degree murder, child abuse and aggravated child endangerment in the death of 3-year-old Zaiden Javonovich.

Police found the boy dead inside the mobile home on Thursday, April 11. Investigators say he may have been several dead for days.They also found a four-month-old baby boy who was in need of medical attention. Officers arrested Marchant and Javonovich early Friday morning for felony murder and child endangerment.

During Tuesday's hearing, both were ordered to have no contact with the baby who is recovering in a Wichita hospital.

Marchant and Javonovich are being held in the Sedgwick County Jail on a $200,000 bond.

They are scheduled to appear in court again on April 25 at 1:30 p.m.
