Wichita Police investigate three deadly overnight shootings

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) -- Wichita police say they are investigating three overnight shootings that resulted in deaths. Wichita Police are also asking that anyone with any information about these cases contact Crime Stoppers at (316) 267-2111.

South Main Shooting

The first shooting happened sometime early Saturday morning. Wichita Police say they responded to Via Christi Saint Joseph Hospital off Harry St. where they found a man with a gunshot wound to his abdomen and arm.

The 24-year-old victim died at the hospital.

After some investigation, police say the man was at a home in the 2200 block of S Main when the victim's cousin shot him. Police say the cousin was showing the victim his firearm when it was discharged.

Police are still investigating the shooting, but say the suspect is in custody.

South Water Shooting

The second Shooting happened around 2:00 a.m. Saturday in the 1500 block of S Water. There, police say they found a 29-year-old man with several gunshot wounds inside a vehicle parked in the street.

After some investigation, police say an unknown SUV drove up next to the victim's car and someone inside fired several shots.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say this shooting was not a random incident. Wichita Police are still investigating the shooting and no one has been arrested.

West 26th Street Shooting

The third shooting also happened around 2:00 a.m. in the 800 block of W 26th St. There, police say they found a 23-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his head.

The victim died at the scene. Police say some kind of disturbance ensued between three people: a 25-year-old woman, her 23-year-old boyfriend, and the woman's 34-year-old brother.

It was during the disturbance, police say the brother pulled out a gun and shot the victim one time.

The suspect fled the scene and, at the time of this article, police say they have not made any arrests. The investigation is ongoing.
