HOLTON, Kan. (WIBW) -- Authorities have identified the Wetmore teenager killed in a wreck north of Holton just after 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

A semi tractor-trailer was traveling south on Highway 75 when Garrett Klahr, 16, was heading west on 286th road and failed to stop at a stop sign, according to the Kansas highway patrol.

The driver of the semi, David Christianson, 54, struck the passenger side of Klahr's Toyota Corolla.

KHP says Klahr spun around and went into the southwest ditch coming to rest on its right side.

Jackson Co. Sheriff Tim Morse says, rescue units extricated Klahr from the car and he was taken to Stormont Vail hospital where he later died. Christianson was not injured.

Authorities closed Highway 75 during the investigation.
