TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Get used to the name change, it’s now official. Westar Energy and KCP&L announced their official name is now Evergy from here on out.
“This is an exciting time for our company,” said Terry Bassham, president and chief executive officer.
They had been using their original names during the company's transition period. The two companies merged in June 2018.
KCP&L and Westar said the merger would better serve customers and help save money.
“Evergy.com is available for customers to find company information and access secure account services. Customer bills, correspondence and payment processing will be as Evergy,” the company said in a news release.
The company had been working the past two weeks on changing signage at their downtown Topeka building. the former Westar Energy area will be known as Evergy Kansas Central. KCP&L Kansas customers will be in the Evergy Kansas Metro coverage area. KCP&L Missouri will be the Evergy Missouri Metro district. KCP&L General Missouri Operations (GMO) will now be known as Evergy Missouri West.
